A New Canaan Police officer allegedly observed a vehicle traveling at about 51 mph in a 40 mph zone around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6. The vehicle was traveling northbound on Old Stamford Road near Gower Road.

Police stopped the vehicle, and when speaking with the driver, identified as 47-year-old Adam Dunn, officers allegedly detected signs of impairment.

Dunn was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass. Dunn was arrested, transported to police headquarters and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

Dunn also submitted to a BAC test, which gave a reading of .127. Dunn was released after posting $250 bail and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, March 19.
